ChrisMacvie.co.uk gets a fresh new look!

New website on its way! It’s certainly been a long time coming! The old chrismacvie.co.uk website was starting to look a little dated, it served its purpose well, but it was well overdue for an update!

Redeveloping in WordPress?

The last 12 months have been super busy with everything going on at work and at Duns Motocross. I was hoping to get dipped in Content Management Systems and Blogging to some extent, but the opportunity never came about. The sites I was building at that time had no requirement for CMS or Blogs.

Recently however that has all changed. I’m not sure exactly why, perhaps its the Social Networking trend that has encouraged people to start expressing themselves more. More status updates. More tweets. More to talk about and more to blog about. I guess this is why people in general have more interest in blogs and everything to do with them.  It made sense to get involved in the setting up and configuring of a blog site from scratch, especially if clients were requiring it too.

So, this website is my first real venture into the world of Blogs. Sure I have been involved in updating content in Content Management Systems before and I’ve certainly read blog or two, but I’ve never set one up until now. After reviewing the possibilities available to me (Drupal, Joomla, WordPress) I opted to go for the WordPress setup. It was a breeze to set up! I then needed a theme for my site and after spending a few days looking around the web I opted for this SilverSlide theme because it was exactly what I was looking for.

Better get back to setting things up. Whilst it took only minutes to install, the customizing and uploading of my existing data is taking many days!

Website Design Development and Maintenance for KeithAmor.com

This particular website required a custom Content Management System. Working together with Paul Anderson of Design-Spark, we designed the layout. Paul then created the custom built CMS specifically for Keith’s needs.

The website has a mixture of dynamic and static pages. Built using PHP, HTML, CSS, it also has Google Analytics reporting and regularly attracts 2000+ monthly visitors.

Website development for MissDixiebelle.co.uk

Site Design by Graham Gilhooley of Zero7zero4 and website development by yours truly.  Launched in June 2010 this was an exciting and challenging project to work on and the development had to be squeezed into a couple of days to co-inside with the opening of the new shop premises in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh.

Unusual project this one! Being as I was/am the client, the designer and the developer all in one.  The idea was simple, create a great looking website packed full of track information and local facilities for those travelling to the circuit for practice or for events.

The site includes a Current Track Status, a Google business location map, Weather Feed, Calendar of Events, Gallery and Contact form. Plans to develop a full Blog/CMS for this website are currently under way.

The design part of this website project was done by Neil Watson of Fantasy Prints and then passed to me for the website development.

The simple ecommerce system for RealFirewood.co.uk’s website is integrated with PayPal allowing visitors to purchase products via their PayPal account or by credit card.
